Italian club chase Chelsea outcast who could still make a major Premier League impact

Inter Milan are interested in signing Olivier Giroud as backup to Romelu Lukaku, according to this report in the Daily Mail.

Antonio Conte signed Giroud for Chelsea, and the now Inter boss clearly still thinks the target man has something to offer. He’s complained a lot about his squad depth this season, and shifting the out of favour forward could suit all parties in January.

Giroud isn’t playing, Chelsea want to get some money for an ageing player whose contact is running down, and Inter get some depth – and Conte will hopefully stop whining for a bit.

On the other hand, the book isn’t closed for Giroud at Chelsea just yet. Michy Batshuayi has established himself as Frank’s second choice, but it would only take one injury to either the Belgian or to Tammy to see Giroud bumped up to second place, a role which gets a game every other week at least.

Could there be another vital goal for us left in the Frenchman? We wouldn’t bet against it.
