“I’m close” – Key Chelsea player finally provides positive injury update

Chelsea have been a club struck by injuries this season and the end of last season, with a number of key players suffering with long term or reoccurring issues.

As most of them have hoped to put their injury problems behind them, there is one key player who is close to joining them, Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The England midfielder hasn’t kicked a ball all season after a nasty achilles injury at the tail end of last season’s campaign.

At the time he was one of Chelsea’s best and most dangerous attacking players and was in great form.

It was a huge disappointment for him and the Chelsea supporters when he was struck down with a long term issue.

But according to the player himself, he is finally close to a full return, and he says he cannot wait.

Speaking in an interview with Versus, Loftus-Cheek has been talking about his long awaited return.

“It’s [recovery] going well! It’s been a long time and I’ve had a few setbacks as well.

“It’s never been just a straight path but I’m close now…I’ve been running and moving, I feel I’m right on the edge.

“I’m close and I can’t wait.”

“That one [missing Europa League Final] hurt me, man.

“To be a part of that campaign all the way through and play my most minutes in that competition, only to miss out on the final, was devastating but I have to move on, I can’t wait to come back stronger.”
