Glen Johnson sings the praise of his former teammate Lampard

You won’t find many people who aren’t impressed by Frank Lampard as a person when they know him, and Glen Johnson very much falls into that category.

The former teammate of Lamps’ has been speaking to the media about the success of the rookie manager, and whether he was it coming when they were players together.

The Daily Express have exclusive quotes from the former Chelsea player who explains he was never in much doubt about Frank’s future, even though – much like the rest of us – he was surprised that he was even given the chance:

“I was surprised he was given the Chelsea job so soon but I thought he was definitely destined for it in the future,” the former Portsmouth right back said.

“Having said that, it was the perfect time for him because of the transfer ban and they would have to give somebody time anyway, so it’s great to see him getting the job done,” he went on.

Lampard has indeed confounded most expectations – in fact there’s only one expectation he hasn’t been able to overturn – the overwhelming feeling that he would do well.

“”Yeah he always had that coaching instinct, after games, talking to coaches, speaking tactics so I always thought he’d be a manager one day, definitely,” Johnson remembered.

The Lampard train rolls on to the Etihad – where he has history – next week.
