Frank Lampard is ‘in the market’ for left back but faces Man City competition

We are all aware of the situation by now, Chelsea have an appeal hearing tomorrow with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. If the appeal is successful, they will be allowed to sign players again in January.

As we await their fate, there are a number of players that The Blues continue to be linked with.

One name that keeps coming up as a potential January pursuit is Leicester City and England left back Ben Chilwell.

The latest report from The Guardian claims that Blues Manager Frank Lampard is specifically in the market for a left back, and is looking at Chilwell to replace Marcos Alonso.

However, they also state that Chelsea face competition for his signature from rivals Manchester City, who are also interested in signing the 22-year old.

Chilwell has become an England regular and has been pinnacle to Leicester’s fine form so far this season. It will probably take a large fee to prize him away.
