Former Spurs Manager believes Chelsea can now attract the best young players around

Chelsea are in a unique situation, one that they have not been in for a long time. They finally have a Manager who is prepared to trust and use some of their best academy produced products.

Players who have been at the club since the age of 7, and have grown up supporting the team.

Former Spurs Manager (2008-12) and the Uncle of current Chelsea boss Harry Redknapp, believes that Chelsea are now in a position where they can attract some of the best young players around to the club, because of that.

Redknapp feels that the young players will see the club as being a great place to get chances to break in, and will see Frank Lampard as the Manager who is prepared to give them those chances.

Lampard has always insisted that the young players he is giving chances to this season would be getting those opportunities regardless of whether they were transfer banned or not.

As reported by Goal, Redknapp said:

“The young kids now in football will think ‘hang on, this is the club to come to. We get the chance here’. That’s important.

“At some clubs, if you were a great schoolboy player I would say it isn’t worth going there because they never play the kids.

“Chelsea do, it has changed. If you are a superstar youngster at school level and a lot of clubs including Chelsea want you, then you go to Stamford Bridge because you get a chance here.

“I think he [Lampard] gives confidence to the young kids coming in. They have got loads of great kids at Chelsea.”
