“Football moves on” – Chelsea players tactful on wishing Jose Mourinho well

Jose Mourinho has once again been plastered all over our screens in the last couple of days as confirmation came through of him taking over Mauricio Pochettino as the new Tottenham Manager.

Yesterday the first pictures emerged of him in his Spurs gear taking his first training session, and a lot has been said about the whole situation.

Chelsea fans feel aggrieved and many believe his legacy at the club has now been tarnished, at the very least.

Attentions have now turned to Mourinho versus Lampard as the pair get ready to face each other next month.

Lampard, Jody Morris, the Coaching team, and all the players will do absolutely everything to win this one, make no mistake about that.

But captain Cesar Azpilicutea and Technical Director Petr Cech have responded tactfully when asked about Mourinho’s appointment recently, as reported by Sky Sports.

Azpilicueta said:

“I can talk only when Jose was here at Chelsea with us.

“We won trophies, and now football moves on. I wish him all the best even though he goes to a rival. I have good memories with him and I have played many times under him and against him.

“Obviously when we play against each other we both want to win for our teams – but this is football. I wish him well.”

Former Blues goalkeeper and club legend Cech, followed suit in wishing Mourinho well, he said:

“He’s a great manager and obviously it’s great for the Premier League to welcome back one of the most successful managers of the past 15 years, so obviously we wish him well.”
