Chelsea have just drawn 4-4 with Ajax in an INSTANT classic at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League. We’ve just about got our breath back, so now we can begin to unpick the madness, with the help of some voices from social media.
After going 4-1 down, all hope looked lost for Frank Lampard’s plucky Blues. But we’re learning very quickly never to doubt their ability and belief to fight back.
First it was captain Azpi who stepped up with a goal. Then came the mad 5 minutes where a penalty and two red cards swung the game back in our favour.
Then came a Reece James equaliser, and a painfully disallowed Azpi “winner”.
We’ve never seen anything like it, frankly, and we can’t wait to see what this team comes up with next. We don’t want to jinx it, but we’re not forseeing a 0-0 anytime soon.
You can see a selection of the reaction taken from social media in the Tweets embedded below:
Chelsea could've easily won that game with the chances that we created, but we can't complain with the end result.
From losing 4-1 and bringing it back to 4-4, huge credit to the players for the comeback. Crazy game of football.

Massive mistake from Ten Hag though, cost Ajax the game. Both your CB’s are on a yellow with a David Luiz level IQ, why not take them off? Cost them.

That Reece James performance may well have accelerated his place in the team above Azpilicueta at RB. pic.twitter.com/kH6h5p0Z5c

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side is the best team to watch since Carlo Ancelotti in terms of attacking football.
Fact.

Kurt Zouma completed 100% of his take-ons against Ajax:
45': ✓ vs. Quincy Promes
45': ✓ vs. Donny van de Beek
45': ✓ vs. Lisandro Martínez
45': ✓ vs. Daley Blind
60': ✓ vs. Dušan TadićFour of them were in that one ridiculous run. ⚡️ pic.twitter.com/fENgMSgna2

Weird feeling after that game as a Chelsea fan.
So happy we came back.
So upset we didn’t win.
Still angry about the 4 mins added time.

As the dust settles… I'm sure both sides will be disappointed. Valencia are capable of eliminating one of them. Three teams of seven points in Group H. One side was 4-1 up. One side was against 9 men for 25 minutes. #CFC #CHEAJA #UCL pic.twitter.com/B4qMCUHY6h

Joe Cole on Reece James : "When I was playing in America, I came around to train with the kids. We were having shooting session and the kids' shooting was erratic, but James was on the money, on the money, whipping crosses, it was like watching Beckham.” (BT Sport) pic.twitter.com/xny7gLk6wZ
