Chelsea’s shortlist of targets and plans for when the ban is lifted

Rumours are starting to circulate regarding potential players that Chelsea might be looking at when they’re able to sign players again.

As it stands, Chelsea cannot sign players above the age of 16 until next summer. But their appeal hearing with the Court of Arbitration for Sport will happen this Wednesday, and Goal report that they will hear the outcome before the January transfer window.

If the appeal is successful, they could have their ban lifted and be able to sign players in January.

Although Goal claim that Chelsea are not desperate to sign players in January, they do have a significant transfer budget and have drawn up a shortlist of targets.

They list 21-year old midfielder Sander Berge from Genk, Leicester City left back Ben Chilwell, Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, Lyon forward Moussa Dembele, and Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake as Chelsea targets.

Ake has a £40 million buyback clause that Chelsea can exercise.

Meanwhile, reliable Telegraph journalist Matt Law has recently reported that Frank Lampard WILL look to start spending Chelsea’s £150 million transfer kitty if the club are told they can sign players in January.

Law has listed mainly the same players as Goal have above, suggesting these are genuine Chelsea targets.
