Chelsea are taking on Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge right now, and there were some notable changes to the team.
As well as N’Golo Kante and Emerson returning to first team action, at right back Reece James started ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta.
This was significant of course because Azpi is the captain and has been almost ever present for nigh-on five years. But it also had the effect of dramatically lowering the team’s average age even further as another 30+ year old is replaced by another teenager in Frank’s youthy team.
Stat from BBC: With an average age of 24 years and 88 days, Chelsea have named their youngest starting XI for a Premier League game and the youngest of any team in the competition this season. #CHECRY

The BBC, as quoted by Simon Johnson above, note that it’s the youngest team in the Premier League this season – and the youngest in Chelsea’s history.
It’s just another sign of the incredible project that Lampard is building. Introduce Callum Hudson-Odoi for today’s captain Willian and we will really be talking about his historically young team.
It’s an exciting time to be a Chelsea fan.
