Chelsea are chasing another talented 17 year old to bring in and help continue their youth revolution at Stamford Bridge.
That’s according to the Sun, who have reports that we’re chasing Joe Gelhardt of Wigan.
We’ve written before about this talented striker, but as time goes by more details are developing, and we’re finding out more about what he can do – and who is interested.
A £5m price tag has been put on him by the tabloid, and there’s no telling if that’s accurate. They also say that Liverpool and Manchester United are in the hunt for his services.
The Sun that our loaning of Reece James last year and Dujon Sterling this year may have helped our efforts to woo Wigan. They also propose that we might complete a deal in January and then loan the forward back for the rest of the season.
That seems like a very sensible idea indeed. In fact, even an 18 month loan from January, giving him another full season at Championship level, might be wise.
