Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s forgotten battle for fitness almost over

Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s injury, picked up just after Callum Hudson-Odoi’s back in the spring, was a huge blow to morale for people at Chelsea, and fans of the club.

Since then things have got better for the club, with Frank Lampard leading a youth revolution, and in fact things are going so well that RLC has been a little forgotten.

Today, the Daily Mail had quotes from the midfielder explaining just how bleak things had got during his long absence. It’s a good reminder that while we’ve all been having fun out here, he’s been working through some serious psychological and physical battles to get ready to play again.

Ruben is out there jogging on the training pitch now, and will soon be gradually added back to first team sessions. We can’t wait to see him back in blue, ending this nightmare he’s gone through. That’s pretty much the only way this excellent season can get any better.
