Chelsea are still under a transfer ban and as it stands, cannot sign players until the summer.
They do await an appeal date from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, who have the power to over turn the ban if they deem it necessary, which could allow Chelsea to sign players in January.
But we are still awaiting any definitive news on this.
In the meantime, they continue to get linked with buying players. One area that keeps popping up is left back.
Marcos Alonso is enjoying regular game time in recent matches, but only because Emerson is injured. When he returns it is likely Alonso will be warming the bench again, which will probably cause him to seek first team football elsewhere.
Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell has largely been mentioned as his replacement, but 90min believe they are looking at another option as well in the shape of Basel’s Paraguayan star Blás Riveros, who they claim has been watched by Blues scouts on a number of occasions this season.
The 21-year old left back is seen as one of South America’s hottest prospects. But 90min believe Chilwell remains Chelsea’s number one option.
