One Chelsea player in the nominees for prestigious football award

It’s drawing close to that time of the year again, football’s prestigious individual award event is coming once again in the shape of the Ballon D’or.

In recent years gone by, Chelsea have grown used to seeing one man in the nominees. But that man, Eden Hazard, left the club to join Real Madrid this summer in a big money move.

So not many Blues fans would have been expecting any Chelsea interest in the awards this year. However, we have a solo nominee in the new goalkeeper section of Ballon D’or called the ‘Yachine Trophy’, and that’s record signing Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Blues stopper enjoyed a successful first season in English football and was pinnacle to Maurizio Sarri’s style of football last year, and was a massive part in helping the team finish third in the Premier League and winners of the Europa League.

With the ball at his feet, there aren’t many better than Kepa. In fact, he’d probably get in most teams midfield he’s that good on the ball!

Good luck Kepa!
