Lampard confirms three pieces of injury news, with updates on Kante and Rudiger

Frank Lampard is having his prematch press conference in Amsterdam ahead of Chelsea’s game with Ajax tomorrow, but the injury update he’s giving will affect the team for this weekend too.

Asked for updates on the long list of players he’s got carrying at least some form of issue, Lampard said the following, as reported by Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com.

Those are three significant updates. Ross Barkley is frankly the least important, because he doesn’t seem to feature in Frank Lampard’s strongest team. But the other two are significant.

Antonio Rudiger is likely to be very much in contention for the first XI, but his endless succession of minor issues seems to be ongoing. Frank doesn’t sound confident he’ll be ready for the weekend.

N’Golo Kante has more hope, but we seriously doubt he’ll be risked either. If Lampard can get away with it, we reckon he would like to save them both for another 7 whole days if possible, perhaps aiming for a return in the league cup against Manchester United next Wednesday.
