“I know it will come back” – Pulisic confident after effective Chelsea cameo

Christian Pulisic had a great impact off the bench for Chelsea yesterday in their 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League.

The United States international has had a bit of a turbulent start to his Chelsea career after his big money arrival from Dortmund. But if this cameo appearance was anything to go by, things are on the up for him.

He actually had a great chance to score in the game but it wasn’t to be. But his overall intensity and involvement really helped Chelsea push on and get that important goal to break the deadlock and a stubborn defensive opposition.

It would certainly have done him no harm in convincing Frank Lampard to give him more game time and it will surely come now.

A lot has been said about the situation, but both parties have been clear on what needs to happen and both agree that essentially it is down to hard work. Things seem good between Lampard and Pulisic.

His latest words are also encouraging. Speaking to ESPN, Pulisic said:

“It was a really good game, happy for the team, had a strong performance, they defended really well, and I was happy to make an impact.

“I was going to shoot last-second, but I saw Tammy wide open and then DeAndre made an unbelievable block, so maybe I should have shot it.

“I just don’t have that scoring touch but I know it will come back.

“[Lampard] told me to do exactly what I’m doing now, continue to train hard, when i get my opportunity I have to take it.”
