Frank Lampard states the one thing his players must do to get picked

A lot has been made about Frank Lampard’s decision to not select Chrisitan Pulisic in recent matches and everyone has their opinion on the subject.

Pulisic played against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup but other than that, as things stand he is currently being ignored in the league and didn’t even make the bench in the Champions League this week.

Their will of course be that adaptability issue coming from a different league into one of the most physical in the world, it will always take time, especially for a young player.

But there is one aspect that Pulisic can look to improve on if he wants to show Lampard what he can do and earn a place in his starting line up, and that’s be better in training.

Speaking to the Chelsea website, Lampard has been talking about giving Fikayo Tomori an opportunity to start purely because he was training so well. It really is that simple.

Lampard said:

“Sheffield United at home was a game I thought he [Tomori] deserved the opportunity after how he trained.

“That’s a great message to all the players. How you train will relate to whether you get picked. Those are the rules here. You have to train at a level, and he trained so well over a period of time he deserved to play.

“He gave me a big problem because he played so well and he’s continued to do that. He is a project in a way but a nice one because everything you want him to do, he stands up and delivers.”
