Frank Lampard reveals what he has said to Christian Pulisic

The Christian Pulisic saga is certainly the major talking point of the moment at Chelsea, with the £58 million man struggling to get minutes.

The talk accelerated on Wednesday evening when he was left out of Chelsea’s Champions League squad entirely.

But Frank Lampard has been clear in saying that he wants his players to show him in training that they deserve to be picked, and clearly Pulisic isn’t quite showing enough yet.

It’s a new country, a new league that we know is very physical, it will take him some time to adapt here. But even still, he would have expected to be getting more minutes than he has in recent matches.

Lampard has an abundance of talent to chose from though, with even more returning from injury recently, it will be a tough task to keep everyone happy.

The Blues boss has been speaking to the Chelsea website about Pulisic.

He said:

“I spoke to Christian two days before the Grimsby game and was very clear about the standards. We have to give him the fact he’s moved country and moved leagues.

“He’s as young as all the young players we keep talking about, just turned 21. If anybody is getting too excited about this, they should calm down.

“He’s started five games for us and what he needs to do is work daily, work to show he deserves to play – as all the players do.”
