Former Chelsea defender “really impressed” by this breakout star

Chelsea have a number of players making the huge step from academy star to Premier League regular, and several individuals have been picked out for praise as the season has developed.

At first it was Mason Mount, whose early goals and pressing set the tempo for Frank Lampard’s new style from the very start.

More recently, it’s been Fikayo Tomori, stepping into the back four and making a place his own in the last month.

But Tammy Abraham has been superb throughout, and former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson, in quotes carried by the Daily Mirror, couldn’t get enough of his form and progress as a player:

“I’ve been really impressed with Abraham,” Johnson raved.

“I really didn’t think he could translate his form from the Championship to the Premier League, but he’s shown he’s more than up to it. There is such a huge difference between the to leagues, so to do what he’s done so soon into his Premier League career is very impressive,” he went on.

It’s hard to disagree. Abraham has been superb for us, and his game looks more well rounded than ever. The better the players he plays with, the better he looks, and there’s no telling what his ceiling is.
