Chelsea starlet sets out positive goal target for the season

On loan Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is absolutely thriving in his first season playing in senior football.

The 19-year old has already notched up 4 goals and 2 assists in just 11 appearances for Charlton Athletic in the Championship, but he’s ambitious to achieve even more.

Gallagher is another Blues youngster bred in the famous academy who is highly rated at the club. They believe highly in the box-to-box midfielder.

He actually has many elements of Frank Lampard about his game and has a similar eye for goal, which is some compliment.

But the main thing is that he is grounded and mature in his approach and speaks very wisely in interviews. He has belief in his ability but isn’t arrogant with it.

Gallagher has been speaking to the Chelsea website about his ambitions for this season during the latest international break.

He said:

“Goals are something I wanted to add to my game this season.

“Before I joined Charlton, I knew they mainly played a diamond and I feel my best position is box-to-box so the side of the diamond really suits me.

“I’ve realised that the team are better than what people were expecting and I’ve also scored a few goals myself, which is an incredible feeling.

“My target now is 10 goals and to maybe even push for the play-offs with Charlton – I know that’s a big statement but I believe the team is good enough to do it.”

10 goals would be fantastic, but the way he is going I feel he will easily be looking at 15 goals at least come the end of the season. That will certainly make Lampard and co take notice.
