Chelsea snubbed by Premier League player of the month award

The Premier League September player of the month nominations are out, and there are… zero Chelsea players nominated.

The full list of 8 players up for the award is recorded here in this Tweet from Squawka:

There’s no denying that all of these guys had a great month, but one would have thought there would at least be a nod for Tammy Abraham, who scored a hattrick against Wolves at the start of the month.

In the end the Blues played 3 games and won 2 of them in the year’s 9th month, their only defeat against Liverpool in a game we deserved a point from.

Fikayo Tomori was also excellent through those 3 games, but clearly central defenders are considered important by the PL, who didn’t go near them for their shortlist.

Was Son Heung-Min really that good in September? Luckily there are plenty of months left in the season for Chelsea players to get the recognition they deserve.
