Chelsea right back Davide Zappacosta has picked up a serious knee injury whilst on loan with Roma.
The injury is a suspected ACL tear, which will mean bad news for a player who has been away attempting to get regular game time after not being able to break in as a Chelsea regular.
As reported by Nizaar Kinsella of Goal, Zappacosta is now expected to return to Chelsea in January in order to start his recovery.

It’s heartbreaking for the Italian international who had only made one appearance so far for Roma this season. At the age of 27, he will be wondering whether he will ever be able to get his career on track playing regularly.
Chelsea paid Torino £23 million plus add-ons to sign Zappacosta in 2017 upon the request of Antonio Conte, as reported by Sky Sports at the time.
But he struggled to claim a spot at Chelsea under Conte or Maurizio Sarri, and now it’s gone from bad to worse for him.
