Willian stats show he made an impact against Valencia

Willian is a controversial player – we’ll leave that there, we’ve dealt with it enough times, but last night against Valencia he was perhaps our most dangerous player.

Certainly in the second half, once the youthful energy of the team had died down, there didn’t seem to be anyone else likely to beat a man. Mason Mount’s creativity was gone, Tammy looked tired and was well controlled by the defence. Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic were deep and Pedro was poor coming on as a sub.

In the end Willian had the best attacking stats on the team. He notched 5 key passes – the most on the team. 9 dribbles – the most on the team. 4 shots – the second most on the team.

In the first half, he knocked the ball past Dani Parejo on one side and ran around the other into space, in the period of the game where we were able to really threaten. It was a bright moment that brought the Bridge to their feet, but sadly the Brazilian alone wasn’t able to change the game.
