Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be back in training in six weeks, according to Simon Johnson of the Athletic.
The Chelsea beat reporter, who is well connected in these matters, says it will be six weeks until the midfielder is back in training, with more time needed after that to establish his match fitness, of course. That might be a while, given he’s been ruled out since May.
After making a superb breakthrough under Maurizio Sarri, the midfielder was cruelly struck down on the eve of the Europa League final with a ruptured Achilles.
Johnson’s tweet made the situation clear:
Perhaps some good news to cheer up #Cfc fans tonight: I understand #LoftusCheek will be back in training in six weeks after Achilles’ tendon injury. Obviously will need more time after that to get match fit etc

Overall it’s a slice of positive news on what was otherwise a pretty bleak night for the Blues. They lost to Valencia at home, and saw Mason Mount limp off in the first.
This would be the perfect time for Ruben to step into the team, but sadly his recovery has fallen just a few weeks short of the opportunity.
