Chelsea’s afternoon went from bad, to good, to worse against Liverpool, with Cesar Azpilicueta having a goal chalked off just moments before the visitors doubled their lead.
Azpilicueta found the back of Adrian’s net, sending the home faithful wild, before VAR deemed Mason Mount’s foot to be in an offside position in the build up to the goal.
Azpi went full-frontal with his celebrations and everything, which is one of the pitfalls of assuming that the goal you’ve scored is actually going to count with VAR in force.

Liverpool were awarded a free-kick in a dangerous position soon after, and of course, doubled their lead. The scoreline went from 1-1 to 2-0 in just moments.
Of course, it’s easy to say this when you’re on the receiving end of it, but who wants to see a whole stadium erupt after their captain scored against a rival only to have it ruled out by the big screen?
VAR is ruining football. We have no time for it.
