Two Chelsea players likely to miss CL tie after this revelation from training

Chelsea have just taken to the field for training ahead of their Champions League tie with Valencia, giving us some major ideas about who might feature against Los Ches.

The game is tomorrow night, meaning that anyone not ready to train today likely won’t be anywhere near being ready to play tomorrow. So Emerson Palmieri and Antonio Rudiger, both noted as missing by The Athletic’s Simon Johnson, as mentioned in the Tweet embedded below, look set to miss out for the second game in a row.

That shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Marcos Alonso and Fikayo Tomori filled in nicely. The question is whether Frank Lampard now sticks with the three at the back system that he used at the weekend in order to use those guys correctly.

It would seem like a wise move, protecting both Alonso’ defensive issues and allowing a third central defender in the mix at the back to try and shore things up. We’d be surprised to see us move away from this formation now.
