Tammy puts the pressure on manager Southgate to pick him next month

Tammy Abraham is really firing now.

After a couple of braces in the preceding games, he stepped up to the challenge and scored a hattrick against Wolves.

The forward then took the opportunity to cast doubt on his England future. Despite his previous exploits, Abraham was overlooked by England boss Gareth Southgate in last week’s round of England callups, while teammate Mason Mount was given the nod.

Abraham is eligible for Nigeria, so as long as he’s scoring and looking like a top class player, he will have the Naija hoping to change his allegiance.

It sounds like he still wants to play for England, but time will run out eventually:

“I have heard the talk [about being called up by Nigeria,” Abraham said in quotes carried by The Metro.

“When the time comes, the time comes. I have not really focused on that yet. I’m focusing on Chelsea and hopefully scoring goals and getting victories. We never know. You can never say never … whatever comes first really.”

Whatever comes first? Sounds like Gareth needs to get a move on if he wants to make sure he still has Tammy to rely on come next summer.

England’s next games are against Bulgaria and Czechia in October. If he carries on like this, we have no doubt Tammy will find himself in that squad.
