Options suddenly opening up for Frank Lampard as injured players return

Frank Lampard has confirmed that both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reeece James are set to face Grimsby in the cup.

The Chelsea boss is likely to rotate heavily given the weaker opposition and the number of half fit players either needing a rest or a bit of game time. We could see 7/8 changes from the team that started against Liverpool, with both of these two in line to play.

James would give Azpilicueta a break, while Callum Hudson-Odoi, Pedro and Christian Pulisic will all be needed minutes out wide.

Because of that, it may be easier for the former to get time than the latter. Maybe 45 minutes for each, or maybe an hour. It all depends on what Lampard’s thinking is.

Either way, getting to see them in the first time will be a joy for fans, and a boost for Lampard as more and more options open up for him.
