The one Chelsea player who made the most passes yesterday wasn’t Jorginho for once

Chelsea fans have grown used to midfield maestro Jorginho picking up the most impressive passing stats week in week out for the last couple of seasons.

The Italian international is the player who all the moves go through as he orchestrates the play from his deep midfield position.

But yesterday in their 2-0 home victory against Brighton in the Premier League, Jorginho’s passing stats were beaten by a defender, the ever impressive Fikayo Tomori.

According to Squawka Football, Tomori made the most passes of any player on the pitch, and he also touched the ball the most.

In just a few weeks the 21-year old centre back has gone from 4th choice Chelsea defender to probable 1st choice, and is the biggest success story from the crop of impressive youngsters at the club right now.

He is very calm, composed, strong, and is absolutely rapid. There is no doubt that he has the assets and ability to become one of Chelsea’s key players this season.
