“They are not so fanatical” – Eden Hazard questions Chelsea fans support

Eden Hazard left Chelsea this summer to join Real Madrid in what was his self-confessed boyhood dream.

Since leaving the club, Hazard has stayed highly regarded by most Chelsea supporters, who see the player as a club legend having helped the club achieve a lot of success and good times.

He had always been honest in his desire for Chelsea to either show more ambition in their signings (nobody can argue with that), or he would not be renewing his contract and would be joining Real Madrid only.

With his contract running out, Chelsea let him leave the club. But as pointed out, largely he remains respected amongst Blues fans.

However, I think he has got the below totally wrong, and a few Chelsea fans might be changing their opinions on the Belgian hero.

Whether his comments are out of context, or whether they have been lost in translation as such, it certainly isn’t the wisest comments for Eden to make if he wants to be kept in the hearts of Chelsea fans.

As reported by The Mirror, Hazard said:

“I think that here (Madrid) the fans are really fans.

“In England there are not so many fans, people there like football and everyone, young people, adults, teenagers, are really interested in their football, but they are not so fanatical about their teams.

“At the time I was in Chelsea and we lost, we were disappointed as were the fans, but I never felt it was a disaster. It is different in Spain.

“Football is everything to them and it is up to the players to give everything.”
