Ever since the day that he emotionally waved goodbye to Stamford Bridge as we lifted the Premier League title back in 2017, we have longed for the day that Terry returns to Chelsea.
He enjoyed virtually his entire career here, etching his name into the club’s history and leaving as one of the greatest ever to pull on the Chelsea shirt during our illustrious existence.
He was formerly the face of the Chelsea academy, having been one of few to graduate and establish themselves as a fully fledged first-teamer. Little did we know it would soon become the norm.
We may have not predicted it, but JT himself did. These comments quoted by Standard Sport in 2017 show the unshakable faith that Terry always had in our younger players – and why he needs to come back:
“We’ve got so many at Chelsea who are ready. Monaco have a couple and everybody’s saying how good they are – believe me, we’ve got better players at Chelsea. Our boys are good enough, they just need the opportunity. Either that or they need to back themselves and go out on loan.”
