Ross Barkley has just made himself a very, very unpopular man at Chelsea.
With his team a goal down against Valencia at home in their first Champions League group game, the midfielder took it upon himself to grab the ball the moment we were handed a late penalty, brushing off the protests of designated taker Jorginho and set piece alternate Willian.
He missed, of course, and a few minutes later the final whistle blew on Chelsea’s first home European defeat in three years.
