Gary Lineker has posted a quite incredible stat on his Twitter account this afternoon that ought to put a smile on the face of every Chelsea fans.
For years we have campaigned for our younger players to be given more opportunities to impress in the first team, for no reason other than they have been absolutely deserving.
Our academy has been producing some of the world’s most talented young players over the past few years, with our enormous trophy haul at academy level serving as evidence of that.
We have had to remain patient for a manager to come in who would bridge the gap between the academy and first-team, but this summer, he finally arrived.
Here’s the result…
Interestingly, or otherwise, @ChelseaFC have already given more minutes to under 21 players in their opening few games of this season than in the entirety of any other season since 2005.

That is as depressing as it is impressive, but at least we can leave the bad times in the past and enjoy what we are seeing under Lamps. The future is bright, and we cannot wait.
