Frank Lampard may be forced into the transfer market by winger’s decision

The rumours that Willian will be leaving Chelsea are growing, with Juventus having today been added to the list of interested teams by sources all over, including the Sun.

It’s a rumour that has a lot of sense to it. There were whispers a few months ago that the Brazailian was going to be given a contract extension to stop him leaving on a free next summer once it was decided he was staying this season due to the transfer ban.

But in the end that hasn’t materialised, and one would have to imagine there’s been some kind of breakdown in talks behind the scenes. At this stage, given how close January is, it seems more likely he’ll see whether these offers are true, and if not who actually is out there to offer him a deal – and how much.

Frank Lampard won’t want to lose such an experienced player, and he’s been at lengths to praise him in recent times. He’s not building this Chelsea on big money transfers, that’s for sure. But if we lose two of our first choice wingers in two summers, he may well want to dive into the market for experience and squad depth, if nothing else.
