Frank Lampard explains why he will meet some of his players tonight

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will hold a meeting with some of his players this evening at the Hotel, ahead of their Champions League clash against Valencia tomorrow night.

Lampard is preparing for his first European game as a manager, and he is well aware that it will be a first time for many of his players as well.

Stamford Bridge will be full of atmosphere as Blues fans welcome back the most prestigious competition in club football.

Lampard knows what it takes to succeed in this competition having won it with Chelsea in 2012. He will be relaying some of that wisdom and experience to his players this evening in an attempt to help them get over the nerves of the situation.

Chelsea will carry some confidence over from beating Wolves 5-2 on Saturday.

Speaking in his first Champions League press conference today, Lampard revealed why he has arranged the meeting tonight.

As reported by Football London, Lampard said:

“We are meeting up tonight at the hotel so we will have plenty of time to prepare. It is certainly worth a word with one or two because it is different in its nature.

“I would say the main thing that I noticed as a player was that your concentration levels and focus throughout in every game has to be absolutely spot on.

“The higher level of player in the Champions League and different style of game can sometimes surprise you. The team that travel for this game are fantastic on the counter-attack and they can hurt you in one second when you feel like you are controlling the game so it will be that focus throughout that will be the main point.”
