Former Chelsea striker announces his retirement from professional football

Former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has announced his retirement from professional football after an illustrious career spanning across six nations.

Eto’o is one of the greatest African players ever to have graced the game, and while Chelsea were not lucky enough to have the peak years of his career, his 2013/14 campaign was memorable nonetheless.

The Cameroon legend still possessed the finishing ability which made him such a threat at both Barcelona and Inter Milan, while also having an excellent understanding with talisman Eden Hazard.

Signed on a free transfer, his nine goals in 21 Premier League appearances were a welcome contribution in a time where Chelsea lacked a real focal point in attack. No offence, Fernando.

We wish Eto’o all the best in life post-football, and hope that he gets a chance to stop by Stamford Bridge and support his former employers now that he has more free time on his hands.
