His flight wasn’t bought, but Chelsea signed another Brazilian ahead of Spurs

Chelsea attacker Nathan is a player who we don’t hear much about. He’s currently on loan at Atletico Mineiro and has spent time on loan at four other clubs since joining Chelsea in 2015.

He’s breezed into the Chelsea loan army life, like many other youngsters who have arrived at the club.

The now 23-year old was bought from Atletico Paranaense for a fee of £4.5 million, as reported by The Guardian at the time.

But he wasn’t the only English club interested in his services. According to the player himself, The Blues London rivals Tottenham were also trying to sign him.

Speaking to O Tempo’s Super FC, Nathan revealed:

“Tottenham and Real Madrid approached me. My Father went to the stadiums, talked to the presidents. But we chose Chelsea for the reputation of hiring young players and putting them to play.

“It’s true Tottenham made me a shirt with my name and number 10.”

Nathan isn’t the only Brazilian that Chelsea signed ahead of Spurs. Willian has a famous song about him regarding their interest in him before Chelsea.

Fans claim that Spurs bought Willian his flight over to the UK. The hijack reportedly angered Spurs and was reported at the time by The Guardian.

Well, it looks like Nathan only got offered a shirt, rather than a flight!
