Chelsea’s top goal scorer ready to take anger out on Liverpool

Chelsea suffered a poor defeat at home to Valencia last night in the Champions League group stages.

It was a disappointing and frustrating night for Frank Lampard, his players, and the fans. There was a real buzz around Stamford Bridge before the game as supporters celebrated their return to Europe’s most prestigious competition.

However, frustrations soon started creeping in as their side failed to break down a stubborn Valencia side who came to defend.

Chelsea now move on to Sunday, when they face Liverpool in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side also had a night to forget in the Champions League losing 2-0 away to Napoli, so both sides will be keen to put it right at the weekend.

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has a hat full of goals already this season, and has warned Liverpool that he is ready to take his anger out on them after defeat last night.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

“Sunday is a test of character. We can take our anger out against Liverpool.

“It’s a massive game and both teams will be going to win. We’ll look forward to putting (tonight’s defeat) right.

“It’s still early doors (in the Champions League). We’re fuming we lost today. But there’s still five games to go – we just have to win our next five.

“We’re obviously disappointed. We didn’t play our best football. Valencia came and stopped us playing the way we wanted so you have to give them credit.

“We’re going to have a lot of ups and downs in a season. We’ve got to move on and not dwell on it.”
