Chelsea’s latest breakout star explains how he felt after Champions League debut

Fikayo Tomori was one of Chelsea’s standout players against Valencia in the Champions League last night, completing a quite remarkably quick rise to the top.

It’s easy to forget that a couple of seasons ago he was struggling for minutes at a Hull team that was battling relegation.

After his big breakthrough last year at Derby, he’s come back to Chelsea, and after starting as fourth choice, has been bumped up the rankings to the starting team.

In quotes carried on Goal.com, the young defender spoke about how he felt having made his bow in the world’s top club competition:

“Obviously, it is the biggest competition in the world and to be playing for Chelsea at the Bridge, to make my debut, it is something I wanted to do, I dreamt of and so I am very proud,” the former Canada youth international said.

After impressing at the weekend against Wolves with a great goal, he played a major role against yesterday, heading the ball off Daniel Wass that earned Chelsea a penalty, only to watch Ross Barkley miss it.
