Chelsea veteran wants to stay at the club but remains coy on future

Willian is unsure on whether he will stay at Chelsea beyond the summer, but has declared that he is happy at the club and wants to stay.

The Brazilian international helped his side beat Wolves 5-2 in the Premier League on Saturday, and the Blues veteran has been answering questions on his own future after the match.

It was reported back in July by some outlets, including The Standard, that Willian had agreed to sign a new contract with Chelsea. Since then though, there hasn’t been any new developments or updates.

His contract ends next summer, meaning he will be free to negotiate with other teams in January. If Chelsea want to keep him at the club, a deal will need to be signed before Christmas.

There was some speculation that Willian wanted a longer deal than Chelsea were prepared to offer him.

He has been talking about it to Sky Sports here:

“From my side, I want to stay here. I know I only have one year left but I feel good playing for Chelsea.

“I like playing for Chelsea. I have the affection with everybody, the fans, the people that work at the club.

“Maybe this will be at the end of the season. Now is not the time to think about it. I just want to play my football and to help the team this season.”
