Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher has been named the EFL Young Player of The Month for August, his temporary employers announced on Friday.
Gallagher was named the club’s academy player of the year at the end of last season, but like Reece James the year prior, needed a season of regular first-team football before he could be considered for a role under Frank Lampard at Chelsea.
Newly-promoted Charlton moved to offer him the opportunity to play there for the season, and he has grabbed the chance with both hands and fast established himself as an important figure under Lee Bowyer’s stewardship.
Gallagher is now beginning to reap the rewards for his good work at the start of the season, with the EFL Young Player of the Month award for August not being a bad way to start. Charlton shared the below image on Twitter on Friday.
👏🏆 Congratulations Conor!

We’re certain that won’t be the only award he wins during his professional career…
