Chelsea “far from competing for the title” with this squad warns former manager

Jose Mourinho has insisted that Chelsea are a long way from competing for Premier League titles, despite the Blues playing well in this match against Liverpool.

Acting as a pundit on Sky Sports, the former manager was asked what he thought about Frank Lampard’s impact at the club so far, and his response was largely positive, although he was very clear that he still thinks this squad will requite a massive rebuild to fight for titles.

“I like their idea of play, I think he has adapted to what football is nowadays… at the moment they are far from competing for the title,” the Portuguese coach said.

“It’s not with just one or two players that they will be a force to fight for the title,” he went on to warn.

Not many Chelsea fans would disagree. It’s an incredibly tough spot that Lampard finds himself in, and even these great young players will need help to get to the level of our opposition today.

Having said that, we came damn close to a win today with these kids – maybe we’re closer than Jose thinks?
