Chelsea chase explosive 24 year old – but could be blocked by Emerson issue

Chelsea have been linked with a move for a new left back, according to SportWitness.

The website has translated claims from the French press, discussing the left sided Valencia defender. He’s been marauding up and down their flank for years now, since he was installed as the heir of Jordi Alba.

He picked up an assist in the Copa Del Rey final against Barcelona last season, and the 24 year old has made himself into quite the player. He’s got tons of experience now, and the time seems right for a big move.

The question is whether it will be to Chelsea. The assumption is that we wouldn’t buy him until the end of the transfer ban, but even then we already have two first team left backs in the form of Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.

Even if we sold Alonso in the summer, we’re unlikely to spend too much cash on a position where we already have quality. We’ve got more pressing needs right now, and no matter how good Gaya is, Emerson is playing so well right now he may be changing our summer transfer plans with every game.
