Champions League football is back at Stamford Bridge and there is a real buzz back around the place, especially off the back of the impressive 5-2 victory at Wolves on Saturday.
Lead by Frank Lampard, the Blues kick off their campaign back in the Champions League against Valencia this evening.
It will be important to get off to a good start in the group stages and Lampard will be looking for all three points against a vulnerable Valencia side who are surrounded by the drama of a manager sacking and a fan uproar, as reported here by Fox Sports.
Antonio Rudiger, Emerson and N’Golo Kante are out injured, and it is unlikely that we will see Reece James or Callum Hudson-Odoi just yet.
Lampard might look to rest a couple of his regulars though, and give some game time to the likes of Olivier Giroud and Pedro perhaps, who do have that Champions League experience.
The formation is difficult to call, with Lampard switching successfully to three at the back on Saturday.
I believe we might see a little less defensive start with the Blues wanting to take it to Valencia. We could well see a mixture of experience along with some Champions League debutantes.
