Chelsea defender celebrates his long-awaited return from injury on Twitter

Antonio Rudiger has taken to Twitter to celebrate his long-awaited return from injury against Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday afternoon.

Rudiger suffered a serious knee injury towards the end of last season, which ruled him out of the Europa League final and the entirety of our pre-season campaign.

The German has had recent involvement in full first-team training, as well as featuring for our development side in Premier League 2 in his bid to get match fit.

Yesterday was the day that Frank Lampard finally deemed him fit to start, and he did, playing 45 minutes of action before a different, minor injury forced him off.

Rudiger isn’t letting that small niggle dampen his spirits, though. He appears delighted to be back in the mix, as he shared on Twitter following the full-time whistle.

We are now hoping that he is fit to feature against Liverpool next weekend, with Lampard unable to risk him for our Champions League clash with Valencia midweek.
