Why Chelsea owe a multimillion pound thank you to Championship outfit Bristol City

Vitesse Arnhem are often considered Chelsea’s best friends in the footballing world, but they may now have some competition for our companionship in the shape of Bristol City.

Chelsea academy product Kasey Palmer completed his permanent transfer to the Robins on Thursday, having spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan with the Championship side.

According to Chelsea journalist Nizaar Kinsella, that means that the Blues have now received a grand total of £15M from Bristol City in a single summer transfer window.

As well as securing the services of Palmer, Bristol City have also forked out on Jay Da Silva and Tomas Kalas, two more products of our incredibly talented academy ranks.

Chelsea appear keen on cashing in on the players that they feel do not have a chance of making it at the club under Frank Lampard, with Bristol City giving us a help in hand.

What we will choose to do with that reported £15M remains to be seen. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until next summer until Marina Granovskaia is free to wield it…
