Two possible replacements for Andreas Christensen

Andreas Christensen limped off before the end of 90 minutes as Chelsea faced Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup final.

The Dane was replaced by Fikayo Tomori, who now must surely be in line to play this weekend against Leicester.

It’s not clear how bad Christensen’s problem is, it may be something minor which saw him withdrawn as a precaution. If it’s anything but, we can expect Derby player of the year Fikayo Tomori to step in, given he’s the only centre back left, and the game is in just a few days.

He was good after coming on against Liverpool, and his pace was actually useful. On the other hand, Antonio Rudiger may be fit enough to start at the weekend too. We’ve seen him ramp up his training recently, this may be a good spot to step back into the side.

Either way, Frank Lampard potentially losing one of his favoured options at the back isn’t ideal. We hope it’s minor, or even better, nothing. With David Luiz gone, we can’t afford to lose any more defends with the team already leaking goals.
