Antonio Rudiger has told manager Frank Lampard that he wants to be in contention to face Norwich City in his sides Premier League match this Saturday, according to The Metro.
Rudiger has been out injured since the end of last season, and has been working hard on his recovery ever since.
He has been back in full training for the last couple of weeks and played his first full 90 minutes for the Under 23s on Monday evening.
The 26-year old looked sharp and raring to go.
The Metro says he has told Lampard that he’s ready to play again. This will be news to the ears of Chelsea supporters, who have a real affection for the German international since he arrived at the club in 2017.
Having lost David Luiz to Arsenal this summer, Chelsea have been lacking that bit of leadership at the back, and this is something that Rudiger does bring.
I’m sure he will be fully assessed by the medical team, and the correct decision will be made.
