The one player who Chelsea captain tips to become a very important at the club

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has been talking up Chelsea’s youth players.

And there is one player who has really caught his eye, and who he predicts to become a very important player for Chelsea, former Wigan loanee Reece James.

Azpilcueta has been describing training alongside the 19-year old, and is excited for his future.

James is closing in on a return to training with the Chelsea first team, and ironically will be directly competing with Azpilicueta for that right back spot.

Many have predicted that the highly rated youngster will soon be ousting the current Blues captain.

The Chelsea academy graduate has been impressive all through the youth ranks at the club, and even more so in his first season in men’s football last year, turning out for Championship side Wigan Athletic.

There is no doubting the potential that this kid has, and the excitement seems to be building from within the camp, as well as from the fan base.

As reported by Goal, Azpilicueta said:

“When he [Reece James] came he was already used to the way we play.

“After he arrived, I was playing as a centre-back so he was training on the right next to me. It was easy for me to get close to him and help him with the movements and to get used to the way we play.

“The movements that the manager asks us to play. I am here to help everybody and he is an amazing kid.

“He has a very good mentality. No one has any doubts about his talent on the pitch and hopefully, he can be a very important player.”
