Norwich City goal-machine had unsuccessful trial with Chelsea when he was 16

Man of the moment Teemu Pukki, who has scored four goals in his first two Premier League appearances for Norwich City, had a trial at Chelsea when he was 16, report The Sun.

Pukki netted 30 goals in 46 appearances for Norwich last season, playing a starring role in them winning the Championship and subsequently being promoted to the Premier League.

He’s taken no time at all to adapt to life in England’s top tier, having netted four goals in just two appearances in the competition this campaign. He’s the outright top scorer in the league.

Chelsea will be hoping that Pukki doesn’t have his shooting boots on today, but he could have been playing for us in an alternate timeline. The Sun report that he had a trial with the Blues at 16.

The Finland international evidently wasn’t ready back then, but he certainly is now. Our defence will have their work cut out attempting to snuff him out this afternoon.
