Norwich 2-3 Chelsea xG map: Blues high on entertainment value this term

Chelsea’s xG map from yesterday’s win over Norwich City is rather busy – and that’s a theme that you can expect throughout the course of the season.

While Chelsea’s attack has looked rather impressive under Frank Lampard, our defending has been sub par. As a result, we have been conceding a considerable amount of chances.

That’s reflected in the xG map. While we didn’t give away as many chances as against Leicester City, Norwich’s opener through Todd Cantwell was a worryingly high quality opportunity.

We can’t afford to be giving away opportunities of that kind too often, with two others around the penalty spot. Thankfully, we created a plethora of our own, hence how we outscored Norwich.

These kind of performances are unsustainable and will do us no good throughout the course of the season, but there’s no denying that Chelsea games are going to be high on entertainment value this term.
